Secrets Reading by Rayne Fisher-Quann
Rayne Fisher-Quann hosted ‘Secrets Reading’ at a 150-year-old church in New York’s Upper West Side. The evening included readings from seven emerging talents in writing, who read an anonymized secret by one of the other readers. Songs by Madonna, played by the church organist on one of the oldest organs in New York City, accompanied their walk down the aisle for each reading.
To read one’s secrets aloud in a church is itself the beauty of conflict. The design amplifies this tension by setting bold, unyielding red typography against the quiet image of a candle with a cross, a symbol that hints at ritual and secrecy.

Hate Read by Delia Cai
Substack hosted a reading for Delia Cai’s Substack column, Hate Read, where she asked a dozen of her favorite writers from the internet rant and review about stuff they hate — anonymously.
The hand-drawn treatment of “Hate Read” softens the tone and undercuts severity while the red slashes emphasize the underlying hostility. It’s a mix of elegance and confrontation, reinforcing the phrase’s tension.
